2-year-old falls from second-story window prompting safety reminders

A 2-year-old boy tumbled out of a second-story window in Pontiac and was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

The boy reportedly did not appear to have serious injuries, but, experts said, the incident is a reminder that falls are one of the leading causes of nonfatal injuries for children and to make sure windows are safe for kids as the weather warms.

"Children are very curious and they can get into things very quickly and they also learn new skills very quickly," said Emily Samuel, a program director with Safe Kids Worldwide. "So it's important for families to remember that screens are not enough to hold a kids' weight."
